About Reborn Marketplace
Reborn Marketplace is an online marketplace for artisan reborn dolls that gives independent reborn artists a storefront with no monthly fee, and gives collectors verified artists and real checkout instead of a friends-and-family transfer to a stranger.
We sell handmade work only: reborn dolls made one at a time by the artist whose name is on the listing, plus the accessories and reborning supplies the craft runs on. Sellers are reborn artists, sculptors and vendors. Buyers are collectors who need to know the doll and the artist are real before sending hundreds of dollars to someone they have never met.
What Reborn Marketplace does
Artist storefronts and listings
Every seller gets a profile that works as a storefront: their dolls, their bio, their reviews and their follower count at a permanent address. Listings carry the full doll specification a collector actually asks about, up to 10 uncropped photos, and a "what's in the box" checklist, so buyers stop having to ask the same five questions in the messages.
Custom commission requests
Collectors can commission a doll directly from an artist, and artists manage those requests in a dedicated inbox instead of losing them in a comment thread. Commissions are the highest-value transaction in this market, and they are a first-class part of the product rather than something that happens off-platform.
Offers, counter-offers and layaway questions
Buyers can make an offer on any listing that accepts them, and either side can counter, accept or decline. Layaway questions are asked and answered on the listing itself, so payment terms are agreed in writing before anyone commits.
Artist verification
Artists can submit a portfolio for review and earn a verification badge that appears on their profile and their listings. It exists to separate the people who make the dolls from resellers and from accounts set up to take a deposit and disappear.
Protected checkout
Buyers pay by card through Stripe, or with PayPal or Venmo, with the full cost itemised before they confirm. Sellers connect their own payout account and are paid into it directly, which is what makes a real checkout possible instead of the friends-and-family transfers this category has relied on.
Discovery and community
A browse experience with filters that match how collectors actually shop (doll type, age, category, price), directories of artists and sculptors, and forums where collectors and artists talk in public. Buyers can follow an artist and be notified when new work is listed.

Sellers pay nothing in a month they do not sell
Reborns.com charges a flat $30 per month whether a seller sells or not, and paying in a slow month is the single most common complaint about it. Our commission is 8% and never exceeds $24.99 in a month, so the most expensive month here still costs $5.01 less than the cheapest month there, and a month with no sales costs nothing at all.
The fee is capped, so selling more costs proportionally less
Once a seller's commissions reach $24.99 in a calendar month, every further sale that month is commission-free. On eBay and Etsy the percentage applies to every sale without limit; Etsy also adds a listing fee per item, which we do not charge at all.
Handmade only, and the rule is enforced
eBay and Etsy searches for "reborn" are flooded with mass-produced factory dolls, so artists who spend 20 hours on a doll compete in the same results as a $59 import. Listings here are handmade-only by policy, and the seller agreement behind that is enforced at the API, not just by a checkbox in the browser.
Commissions are built in, not improvised
Reborns.com has no visible workflow for custom orders, which pushes the most valuable transaction in the category into direct messages with no structure and no record. Commission requests here have a form, an inbox, a status and a history.
No contract, and no subscription to cancel
There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to cancel: sellers are charged a percentage when they sell and are charged nothing when they do not. Compare that with the monthly plans the incumbent requires before a seller has made a single sale.

Getting set up as a seller
Becoming a seller is a four-step checklist you can stop and resume: choose whether you are an artist, sculptor or vendor; accept the seller guidelines; verify your email address; and connect a payout account. Finishing it unlocks listing straight away.
Artist verification
Verification is a separate, optional step, deliberately kept off the critical path: submit up to 10 portfolio photos and we review them. You can list accessories the same day you sign up while that review sits in the queue, and verification is required only for Reborn and Supplies listings.
How buyers and sellers talk
Every conversation is attached to the listing it is about, so neither side has to reconstruct which doll is being discussed. Offers, layaway questions and commission requests each have their own thread and status rather than living in a general inbox.

Getting paid
Sellers connect their own Stripe or PayPal account, and buyer payments go to that account. Our 8% commission is taken at the point of sale, and the running total against the $24.99 monthly cap is visible in the seller hub alongside the sales ledger.
