Collector's Guide
Everything you need to know about collecting reborn dolls.
What is a Reborn Doll?
Reborn dolls are handcrafted art pieces made from vinyl or silicone kits. Artists paint multiple layers of detail, root real mohair or premium synthetic hair, and weight the dolls to feel lifelike. Each one is unique.
Types of Reborns
Newborns are the most common style, typically 17-22 inches and weighted to feel like a real infant. Toddlers range from 24–30 inches. Silicone dolls are made entirely of platinum silicone, giving them an even more lifelike feel. Vinyl dolls use a hard vinyl body with soft-filled limbs.
What to Look For When Buying
Check the artist's portfolio, read seller reviews, and look at the number and quality of photos. Reputable artists provide detailed shots of skin texture, hair rooting, and limb joints. Ask about the kit used; well-known kits from Realborn, Bonnie Brown, and others carry a premium.
Price Ranges
Entry-level completed reborns start around $200–$400. Mid-range artist pieces typically fall between $500–$1,500. High-end and silicone dolls from established artists can range from $1,500–$5,000 or more. Rare or limited-edition kits command a further premium.
Caring for Your Doll
Keep reborn dolls out of direct sunlight to prevent fading. Spot-clean with mild soap and water. Store upright or lying flat, never on the face. Mohair can be gently detangled with a fine-tooth comb and a light mist of water.
